YH Attendance Policy - 2025-26 Academic Year

At Yeshivat He’Atid, we believe that consistent attendance and punctuality are essential to each child’s growth and success. Being present and on time allows students to fully engage in learning, develop healthy routines, and contribute meaningfully to their class community. Clear expectations around attendance help us create a structured, supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The following policy outlines our school’s procedures and responsibilities for students and families.

Late Arrivals

Toddler-5th Grade
Punctuality is an integral component of the educational process as well as an important behavior we hope to instill in our students. A child who is late disrupts an entire class and misses part of the daily work. Please do not drop off your children at the carpool entrance. Students arriving after 8:35 a.m. must be brought by a parent to the front office to be signed in. Students who arrive late must receive an admittance slip to be permitted into class. Each time your child is late or absent, you will receive an email from the school office.
Parents of a child that is late more than 20 times will be required to come to school to meet with the administration to discuss next steps.

Middle School
Consistent attendance is a cornerstone of student success—academically, socially, and emotionally. When students are present and on time, they not only engage more deeply in their learning, but they also contribute to the positive culture and shared values of our school community. Each day builds on the last, and frequent absences or lateness can interrupt the learning process, create gaps in understanding, and impact group dynamics. This policy is designed to emphasize the importance of being present, promote accountability, and support a learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Please read carefully the policy outlined below:

  • Arrival is from 8:10-8:25 each day. Tefilah begins sharply at 8:30 AM. Any student who arrives at Tefilah after 8:35 AM is considered late & will be required to receive a late note from the office.

  • Each time your child is late or absent, you will receive an email from the school office.

  • All absences and late arrivals are recorded in ParentLocker and will appear on the student’s report card

  • At the end of each month, all latenesses will be tallied.

    • A child late more than 5x in a month will be required to stay after-school for a 30 minute study hall

    • A child late more than 10x in a month will be required to stay after-school for a 60 minute study hall

  • Consistent latenesses requiring a child to remain after school for more than 2 after-school study halls will result in a meeting with the Administration. Further consequences could include:

    • Academic probation

    • Note in a child’s permanent record

    • Potential suspension

    • Academic Retention

Our policy is designed in accordance with our school’s core values. To maintain a positive learning environment it is important that children are on time and present for school. For further information please see the Middle School absence and lateness policy.

Absence
Regular school attendance is essential for your child’s academic and social success. Consistent routines help students thrive, while frequent absences can disrupt learning and make it harder for a child to integrate into the classroom community. Our curriculum is designed to build both skills and knowledge across the year, and students who do not meet the required attendance threshold may not be equipped to advance to the next grade.

Any student who is absent for more than 20 days will be asked to come into school for a meeting with the administration.

A student who is absent for more than 35 days (over 20% of the school year) will not be eligible for promotion. In cases of chronic medical issues, we will partner with families to ensure the child receives the necessary instruction to progress. Additionally, attendance records are part of each student’s transcript and are reviewed by high schools during the admissions process.

The school requests that parents schedule vacations during school holidays. If circumstances necessitate that the family take a vacation during the school session, please notify the school in advance. The student is responsible for completing assignments, homework, and any missed assessments.
